Michael Ackman
Information
Michael Ackman, Thomas Jefferson Class of 2004, was severely injured in a snowmobile accident in March 2004; sustaining a traumatic brain injury as a result. Michael has not spoken since the accident. Currently, he is aware and responsive to his surroundings, family and friends. Michael's recovery, although slow, has progressed to a point where he can once again read and indicates he has retained his memory. He is also learning to communicate with the use of an adapted computer.
Michael's doctors are amazed and encouraged with his progress and potential to achieve higher levels of recovery!
Michael receives his regular therapy locally, but requires out-of-state therapies twice a week. He is also exposed to his favorite familiar places and interacts within family settings. The diverse therapy Michael receives is credited with putting him on this promising road to recovery.
So far, Michael's recovery has been astounding based on his initial injuries. Doctors believe his recovery will continue to improve with the continuous treatment and therapy he receives now. All who support Michael and his loving family in this arduous journey know how paramount it is that Michael not miss the present window of opportunity and the chance at recovery that his current regiment of diversified therapy offers.
